Capella’s hotel approach centres on the Living Room and its Culturists: people who connect guests with local craft, traditions and everyday life. Group founder Horst Schulze came to this model through a long career in hospitality. Culture becomes the substance of a stay.
02 / LIVING WITH THE NAME
From a philosophy to your own address.
Capella describes its approach as crafted living, guided by craftsmanship, culture and care, with architecture that responds to a property’s history and setting. Its signature Personal Assistants curate stays around individual preferences and connect guests with local culture; Capella applies the same intuition-and-belonging language to its residences.
The official navigation separates residential projects: Seoul, Brisbane and Bangkok. Seoul’s Heonin Maeul forest setting and Brisbane’s riverside Shafston Estate show how different homes under one name can be.

Capella Residences Brisbane
A historic house within a new vision
The Brisbane development includes the restoration and transformation of the Shafston House estate. The site’s heritage becomes part of a riverfront residential address.
Shafston Estate’s historic riverfront setting informs a composed architecture of light, structure and material, with contemporary interiors and a landscape connected to the river.

Chef Ambassador, Capella Residences Seoul
Capella Hotels and Resorts · press release, 21 July 2025
In July 2025, Capella named Lee chef ambassador for this residential project. Born in Brooklyn to Korean parents, he brings together the food of the American South and Korean flavours. In Seoul, his programme is designed specifically for residents as part of community life, beyond a one-off celebrity appearance.
The homes are designed by Olson Kundig; the clubhouse by David Chipperfield. The 2025 release gives a planned 2027 opening; the current schedule is confirmed for each enquiry.
Kerry Hill Architects leads architecture, 1508 London interiors and PWP the landscape. Shafston House is planned as a residents-only club with whisky, music and private dining rooms.
